Community involvement is a multi-faceted thing. It occurs locally, on a state level and within the scope of the nation. In addition, there is community involvement for Stock’s Underhood Specialist Inc., the business, and its individual members.
The Programs and Services for Older Persons (PSOP) provide a much needed Senior Companion Program of Southwestern Illinois College. Every month, since 1995, 120 volunteers gather for an in-service meeting and training. We supply the highlight of the meeting with a FREE oil change service for some lucky volunteer through a drawing. We have also presented a “Car Maintenance Tips” to the group on a few occasions at one of their fall meeting.
In the past, we have offered donated service to a ministry group that does missionary work to correctional institutions and law enforcement agencies in our area. We also helped with financial support for a young lady in the Appalachian area who was anxious to further her education. This was done through the Save the Children Foundation. In addition, twice a month, one of our employees was granted an extended lunch period to help deliver food to home-bound residents as part of the Meal on Wheels program.
