Paul Stock

I graduated Magna Cum laude from Bailey Technical School in 1974. After graduation, I worked as a technician for the AAA Auto Club Diagnostic Clinic of St. Louis, Mo. I became an ASE Master Certified Automotive, Truck and Auto Body Technician and was inducted into the Mechanics Hall of Fame as a “ASIA-ASE World Class Technician” in 1987.

While working for AAA, I did automotive fraud investigations for John Ashcroft, who was then Missouri State Attorney General. I have taught “powder puff” classes at the high schools to automotive mechanics at the college level. As a contract trainer I have done specialized training for propane conversions, diagnostic procedures, service advisor training for AWDA, as well as preventive maintenance clinics and specialty clinics for the Illinois Rural Transit Association and fleet administrative classes for IDOT.

Since 1994, I has served on the Lewis & Clark Community College Advisory Board. I have also been a featured speaker for the Tune-up Manufacturers Council and the Brake Manufacturers Council. I have created and implemented one of the oldest (26 yrs.) preventive maintenance program known in our industry. It has been featured in Motor Age, Motor and Import Service magazines and has received national award recognition. Since 1989, I has been preaching that we as an industry need to “get out of the repair business and start maintaining vehicles.” For the last 26 years, I have owned and operated Stock’s Underhood Specialists Inc. in downtown Belleville, IL. It is one of the oldest AAA Approved Auto Repair Facilities in the Metro East area of St. Louis, Mo. Stock’s Underhood Specialists has also been selected seven times as a CARQUEST Excellence Award winner. He is currently an ASE Certified Service Consultant and a Master Automotive Technician with L1 and Alternative Fuels. He has been a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers for nearly 34 years and was elected Outstanding Younger Member in 1982. I graduated with Kay with an AAM degree in Automotive Management.
