"A true mechanic!! I called 4 or 5 different shops to ask about replacing my steering pump...Paul was the ONLY one who asked me why I thought it was the pump...I took it in that afternoon, his mechanic did a very careful inspection that revealed my pump was just fine (yay!) but he discovered other things that would have not been found. I wound up needing extensive work done on my vehicle which thankfully my dad is able to assist in doing. The work that Stock's did is remarkable. They were very professional on the phone and in person. They take the time to walk you thru what is needed done to your vehicle...This is great for a person like me...You know the joke about a woman who goes to the mechanic and he convinces her that she needs her blinker fluid changed...That is not true here...Everything was shown and explained in terms and ways that I could understand. They gave me an itemized estimate with their thoughts on what was the main priorities to fix. This helped a lot as we have 3 small children and while I want my vehicle safe for them to be in, I just did not have the money for all the repairs at once. Having the priority list was a big help. This shop may have slightly higher prices but as the saying goes, You get what you pay for...and it is worth it to me to pay a little extra to have a place that can fix everything instead of having to go here and there and even there...not to mention just the reassurance is worth it! Great shop....Def recommend to whoever is needing vehicle repairs!! :)"

"I am with the Rural Transit Assistance Center. We are funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation, and on several occasions we have asked Paul Stock to present a preventative maintenance workshop for our Spring Conference and also at our Regional Maintenance Centers. Here is what one attendee had to say: Thank you so much for Paul Stocks Maintaining 4 Your Future program presented as part of the Regional Maintenance Center Workshops. The workshops have always been very informative, but this one in particular had immediate benefits. As part of his program, Paul emphasized the importance of guarding against fluids contamination, including the impact of overheating on fluids. Id certainly heard that message at previous trainings, but it never hurts to hear it again. I attended that workshop in Rockford on May 11, 2005 and on June 6, 2005, a water pump on one of our 2002 Ford Medium Duties developed a leak during a run and the vehicle overheated. It was towed into one of our local shops, and although it had just been serviced, I ordered an oil change and transmission flush in addition to the needed repairs. When we picked up the bus, I asked the shop if the fluids were changed, and I was told the changes could wait until the next scheduled servicing in 3,000 miles. Hmmm. I didnt bother to argue with the shop, I just telephoned Paul Stock and asked his opinion. He not only reiterated that the work should be done immediately, but he helped me find a shop within thirty miles that could effectively flush both transmission fluid and engine oil. The flushing was done while our driver waited, and the bus was back in service the next day. Since then, the bus has gone over 7,000 miles without problems. Paul Stock is absolutely the most professional, up-to-date, and knowledgeable person I know. We are trying to get him to come back and do another preventative workshop so that new folks can receive his helpful advice. All I can say is, Thank you, Paul!"

"Gold STARS for Paul and Stocks Underhood Specialist. While visiting my daughter in Florida, I took her CR-V to the local Honda dealership for a review. The cost of repairs was over $1000. I called Paul to discuss the issues. He advised calling a AAA car care center before proceeding. Results: Honda Dealer wanted $270 to repair a boot/axle. AAA stated that there was nothing wrong with the boot except that oil had built up from sloppy oil changes AAA's cost $0. Honda dealer wanted to charge $650 to investigate the check engine light and found the need to replace a module and shut off valve. AAA's cost $98 for their computer check time with the result that a electric wire was found to be unplugged. Several other issues that the dealer wanted to repair were questioned. Maybe incompetence or untrustworthy mechanics, but she won't go back. Paul, Thanks for saving my daughter a substantial amount. Thanks for helping us find a technician we can trust, like you."

"Went out of their way to fix my car. Mr. Stock went out of his way to fix my 2003 VW Beetle Convertible. We left it with him while on vacation and he had fixed it totally for $400 less than the dealer was going to charge. Mr. Stock also explained everything that they had checked out and showed me all of the codes and other potential problems. If we lived in Illinois we would no doubt be using Stock's for both our cars. Unfortunately we leave 50 miles away. I highly recommend Stock's Underhood specialists."

"We love this shop! My husband and I have been using Stocks's Underhood Specialists for our automotive servies for 20 years. The thing that drew us to them at first was their maintenance plan. It was an economical way to maintain our vehicles and not have to worry about being stranded. It is less expensive to prevent a problem than have to fix it when it's broken. We quickly built a relationship with the friendly staff. This relationship is so strong that when we moved out of the Belleville area and thought we would have to find another auomotive shop they stepped up to help.
